Our Imam

Imam Dawūd embraced Islam about two decades ago after a perilous journey to find truth. Coming from a life once centered on music, partying, and the emptiness of drugs and alcohol, he discovered in Islam the light, discipline, and purpose he had been longing for. His conversion marked the beginning of a lifelong mission: to learn, live, and share the faith with sincerity.

Following his acceptance of Islam, Imam Dawūd dedicated himself to serious study of the sacred sciences under the guidance of traditional scholars. Over the course of more than fifteen years, he pursued formal education at an Islamic seminary, completed the memorization of the Qur’an, and trained in the foundational disciplines of the religion. His teachers not only equipped him with knowledge, but also with the responsibility of carrying the message forward with wisdom and care.

By the consultation of his Shaykh, Imam Dawūd relocated to Moncton, New Brunswick, where he led the effort to purchase a former church and transform it into Masjid Yusuf. Since its establishment, the Masjid has become a vibrant center of worship, learning, and community service. Under his leadership, the Masjid has witnessed nearly one hundred people embrace Islam, and continues to be a place where hearts are guided and lives are changed.

Beyond the pulpit, Imam Dawūd delivers inspiring Jumu’ah sermons, teaches students locally and online, and mentors individuals seeking to strengthen their faith. His work extends to new educational initiatives, including online platforms that make authentic Islamic learning more accessible.

Through all his efforts, Imam Dawūd remains committed to reviving the model of the Prophet’s Masjid ﷺ , a place of worship, knowledge, community, and daʿwah. His goal is not only to build a Masjid, but to nurture a generation of believers who embody sincerity, knowledge, and service to others.
